چکیده

Urban development can impact environmental quality and ecosystem services well beyond urban extent. Many methods to map urban areas have been developed and used in the past, but most have simply tried to map existing extent of urban development, and all have been single-scale techniques. The method presented here uses a clustering approach to look beyond the extant urban area at multiple scales. The result is a single, synoptic multi-scale map of urban influence that should be useful in urban, regional and environmental planning efforts. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Urban Change Analysis with Multi-Sensor Multispectral Imagery

An object-based method is proposed in this paper for change detection in urban areas with multi-sensor multispectral (MS) images. The co-registered bi-temporal images are resampled to match each other. By mapping the segmentation of one image to the other, a change map is generated by characterizing the change probability of image objects based on the proposed change feature analysis. The map i...

Map-merging in Multi-robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Process Using Two Heterogeneous Ground Robots

In this article, a fast and reliable map-merging algorithm is proposed to produce a global two dimensional map of an indoor environment in a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) process. In SLAM process, to find its way in this environment, a robot should be able to determine its position relative to a map formed from its observations. To solve this complex problem, simultan...

A multi-scale framework for mapping and analysis of the spatial and temporal pattern of urban growth

In the past, remote sensing has shown an ability to detect and describe urban growth patterns at different spatial scales. With new remote sensing devices (e.g. IKONOS, MODIS), with innovative image processing techniques and with further development of decision support tools (e.g. GIS and urban land use change models), remote sensing has new opportunities to provide useful information in suppor...

Analyzing Relationship between Urban Form and Disaster Resilience at Tehran Metropolis Neighborhoods

While it has been only two decades since resilience as a concept entered the field of urban planning, there has been an increasing interests and a wide range of studies surrounding the issue in this short span of time. Considering this fact, surprisingly a few passionate endeavors have attempted to assess "urban resilient form" as the subject, while urban form as the structure of the city can d...

Approximate a quadratic mapping in multi-Banach spaces, a fixed point approach

Using the fixed point method, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the following functional equation in multi-Banach spaces:begin{equation} sum_{ j = 1}^{n}fBig(-2 x_{j} + sum_{ i = 1, ineq j}^{n} x_{i}Big) =(n-6) fBig(sum_{ i = 1}^{n} x_{i}Big) + 9 sum_{ i = 1}^{n}f(x_{i}).end{equation}
